Photographic portraits of Miloš Marten
A set of photographic portraits of Miloš Marten, apparently taken in a single day in different parts of a modern collector’s interior (perhaps his own home), pairs dandy stylization (a display of “high culture”) with an introspective writer’s gaze. His focused eyes, turned away from the photographer (and the viewer), together with his controlled posture, suggest a man absorbed in immersed, roaming the distances of his imagination. At the same time, the setting – the stage for his inner journey – implies another route to the self: aesthetic contemplation, a concentrated study of one of the artworks surrounding him.
